Planned Giving
A planned gift is any major gift that is part of a donor’s overall financial planning. Planned giving allows you to make a substantial contribution to the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation while receiving significant financial benefits. Planned gifts can include:
- Bequests: The Downers Grove Public Library Foundation can be named as the beneficiary of an account or an estate. For your convenience, here is sample language you may use: “I give _______________ [amount or percentage] to the The Downers Grove Public Library Foundation, Tax ID 32-0169598.”
- Stocks & Securities: Donate appreciated assets to potentially avoid capital gains tax and receive a deduction for the full fair market value.
- Charitable IRA Rollovers: A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ or older to donate directly from a taxable IRA, in lieu of required minimum distributions (which begin at age 73). Money leaving your IRA via a QCD is not considered a taxable distribution, eliminating any income tax that would have otherwise been owed on a regular withdrawal.
- and more
Please email us at plannedgiving@dgplfoundation.org if you have any questions on including us in your planning. Thank you very much for your support!
